Geoff Enoch

Training first as an engineer and then as an illustrator, my involvement with MGs started with producing assembly drawings for the MGB and C in 1969 while working for Pressed Steel Fisher who produced the bodies at that time. In that same year I also purchased my first MG, a MkI Midget. Continued involvement with MGs, including secondment to Abingdon in 1974 for the rubber bumper modifications, endorsed a lifetime commitment to the marque, which culminated in the formation of Octagon Services in 1985.

Octagon Services, Past

Initially a "one-man-band", Octagon quickly grew in stature and in 1988 had become a limited company employing nine men full-time. By 1990 it had its own parts department, employed twelve staff and had gained a considerable international reputation for its quality of workmanship.

In 1992-3 we built, from scratch and with the help of the original work force a replica of the 1955 MGA Le Mans car LBL301. Although featuring extensively in the media that year interest in historic cars was 'in reverse'.

Recession hit the classic car trade particularly in 1992, and Octagon, despite its fine reputation, was no exception to its effects. In 1993 the limited company was disbanded, and Octagon moved to a country location, effectively to complete the three restoration projects in progress at the time. (Tom Dark, a former apprentice at Octagon, started his MG business at this time and operates from a workshop in a neighbouring village.)

Octagon Services Present

Work continued there for many years beyond the completion of those three projects, and in 1997 I built a new workshop at my home in Witney to concentrate my engineering and fabrication skills on the improvement of parts support for pre-war MGs; also to restore as opportunity arose.
Since that time I have been involved with 18/80, M, N, L, F, J, P and Q-type rebuilds and have become a significant supplier of parts to Sports & Vintage Motors in Shrewsbury (having also illustrated their catalogue).

My latest project is the production of J-type (also D, F & K) door catch assemblies.

I accept individual commissions for parts manufacture, production projects from the trade and welcome enquiries for restoration work.
